katrina..

what would it feel like to be a new orleans resident right now? knowing that katrina is viciously bearing down on your coast, with warnings of a 28 foot wall of water about to hit your little town which is already 10 feet below sea-level..?
people with some means are trying to get out of the place...others are resignedly sitting in some of the 'shelters', surprisingly calm and peaceful. i used to naively think that warnings will prevent damage..only now reality is striking me. is ignorance bliss when you are one of the lesser priveleged, when you KNOW something is going to strike but you dont have the means to save yourself?
i pray that the hurricane weakens before it crosses land.
